Merry Christmas from Vocab Express!

In the Vocab Express office, we are finding it hard to believe that it’s this time of year again already?! With just under two weeks until Father Christmas comes to deliver his presents, we thought it was a good time to reflect on 2013.

The past year has been one of significant change for the education sector, with revisions to the examination systems, a new framework for Ofsted inspections and of course, the announcement of a new National Curriculum.

2013 has also been a big year for Vocab Express too – let’s take a look at our 2013 timeline:

  • March – Another very popular and successful National Language Championship saw 24,000 students demonstrate their vocabulary knowledge with us.
  • September – In time for the new school year, we were excited to launch the new version of Vocab Express with a host of new features and a smartphone app.
  • October – We began working to support the Routes into Languages Foreign Language Spelling Bee, challenging Year 7 students nationally to improve their vocabulary, spelling and memory skills in a foreign language.
  • November – Vocab Express was shortlisted for a Bett Award in the ‘Innovation in ICT’ category for our new assignments module (keep your fingers crossed for us for January!)

I think you will agree that 2013 has been a busy year! So what has 2014 got in store?

To kick if off, in January we’ll be exhibiting at Bett 2014, the world’s leading event for learning technology. We are looking forward to the New Year, seeing new faces, hearing great education stories, and telling you all about our new additions to Vocab Express. We hope to see as many of you as possible on our stand, G470.

We will also be launching an exciting new project in partnership with some big names, so keep an eye out for the big announcement!

Whether you’re a teacher or a student, we hope that you all enjoy a lovely festive break ready and refreshed for the new school term. From the whole team at Vocab Express, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
